Colin Rogers will take over as MapAction’s Chief Executive from Liz Hughes OBE in October 2023.
Currently Head of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response at Plan International, Colin brings over 25 years of humanitarian experience at country, regional and global levels. He has previously worked in leadership roles for Médecins Sans Frontières, International Rescue Committee, Oxfam GB and Care International UK.
Colin has led or advised on many operational responses including rapid onset, conflict, displacement, protracted disease outbreaks and pandemics. He is a strong advocate for and practitioner in building regional and local capability in preparedness and response, a key aspect of MapAction’s strategy.
He brings significant experience in the development of non-traditional strategic partnerships, which are increasingly important in a changed funding and operational landscape. His academic background and early career were in Health, an area of increased focus in MapAction’s strategy.
Colin was also the first elected President of Sphere, supporting the development and review of global humanitarian standards and quality initiatives, reflecting his commitment to welfare, safeguarding and professionalism in the field.
