Our services

We enable organisations to use maps and data in effective and innovative ways to assist all aspects of humanitarian work.

This includes emergency response, emergency preparedness and anticipatory action.

Below is a non-exclusive list of ways we work with local, regional and global partners worldwide to strengthen global disaster preparedness. If you think you’d like to work with us but would like more details, please get in touch at: info@mapaction.org

  • Emergency Response: We supply decision-makers with maps to make sense of disaster zones during an emergency response – ensuring aid goes where it is most needed.
  • Anticipatory Action: We work with the Start Network and INFORM to ensure that national and local disaster management authorities are as prepared as possible for future disasters through anticipatory action programmes
  • Training: We implement and co-lead workshops on disaster preparedness and response. We have led over 500 workshops worldwide – preparing local authorities to make key decisions in a crisis.
  • Data Science & Innovation: We implement, lead and collaborate on developing innovations in humanitarian data science in partnership with UN, INGO and academic institutes. Software developers and data engineers also contribute to unlocking key information management barriers as part of our Innovation Labs.

Both teams did an amazing job supporting UNDAC on this response [to the Haiti earthquake]! A big thanks to MapAction volunteers that have been working with us for the last five weeks.
