MapActions’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) team, together with the MapAction communications department, constantly work together to track the impact of MapAction’s work. Whether it’s following up with local partners after a series of training events, understanding the impact of a partnership with a national disaster management agency during a response or deep-diving into an evaluation of an anticipatory action programme, this page aims to highlight the impact from some of our recent work with regional and national disaster authorities.

As part of MapAction’s strategic commitment to locally-led, sustainability is defined as helping ensure the longevity and sustainability of AA projects by establishing effective evaluation frameworks and sharing lessons learned with the wider community. It is critical that local voices are embedded
with these projects and processes.

MapAction has delivered 15 workshops to disaster managers in Central Asia in the last five years in partnership with the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR). Widespread use of GIS and humanitarian information management tools means local disaster managers are evermore prepared for present and future hazards.
